Rune of the Day

Today's Rune of the Day is Hagalaz

Hagalaz is H for Hail. In older times (and even today) hail was a terrible thing; it destroyed property, crops, injured livestock and people. But people today don't much realize the good effects that hail has as well. Hail is ice, after all, and melts into water. Water feeds the crops, and allows a new crop to grow, perhaps more fully than before. As such Hagalaz represents hardships and lessons followed by learning and growth.

Hagalaz is the Rune of the Day because I want to acknowledge that this is how most of life is; its hard, and trying, and challenging, but in the end we should grow from it. We learn lessons. We get better.

...This seems a rather awkward ending, so I'll mention that I intend to post a pattern later today. Ta-ta!
