Does anyone have...

A decent source on Norse Mythology? Preferably a free decent source? Internet sites work find, or if you think there's a book a library is likely to have...
I've had an increasing connection to the Norse gods ever since I picked up the runes, especially Freya. Now I have an odd fascination with Odin all of a sudden, like a call. Its particularly unusual that I'm hearing a call from a God...I hear Goddesses quite often, but the only God I've ever gotten close to is Cernunnos. I'm determined to do my research, and was hoping to get a few nudges in a good direction before diving in headfirst.

I know I know, I'm a horrible pagan for practicing runes and not knowing their roots. I do know the basics, but perhaps not as much as I should. As I've said before, I'm a Celtic girl. Ogham doesn't appeal to me though, and runes do. The two traditions coexisted at least, though I'm not one to listen when I'm told what I can and can't believe. That's one of the reasons I'm no longer Christian. *sigh* I'm going to stop that rant before it gets started.

In any case, any tips and feedback you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

  1. I've never listened to it, but Ravencast gets great reviews from other pagan podcasts as a great Asatru and Norse podcast. You can download it from iTunes. Just a thought...

  2. I think Norse women had the same rights as their men, but I can't remember where I read that. And Vikings became mercenaries in the employ of whom? There's an article in the April 1970 Issue of National Geographic Magazine. There's a photo of a Thor's Hammer I dearly want to recreate. I've bought beeswax to make a model and I like to have it cast in silver by some jewelry designer. But what should I do to imbue it with energy. What ceremony?
